As part of us soccer’s one nation series black arrow told stories about two former black members of the usmnt. this spoke to the history that black players have in the us game and how they have impacted the future generations both on and off the field.
Desmond Armstrong made 81 appearances for the USMNT and was one of the first U.S.-born Black players to play in the World Cup. Now, Armstrong serves as director for East Nash Soccer and founded the Heroes Futbol Association travel team in 2004.
Former USMNT player Tony Sanneh was honored as U.S. Soccer Game Ambassador for his work with The Sanneh Foundation. Founded during his playing career, The Sanneh Foundation serves the holistic youth development needs of the Twin Cities.
